Como todos los años por estas fechas, la Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies ha presentado el catálogo de relojes únicos, que participarán en la tradicional subasta gestionada por Christie’s que apadrina el Príncipe Alberto II de Mónaco. Y, como es costumbre, hemos elegido algunos de nuestros modelos favoritos. El 11 de noviembre sabremos si entre nuestra selección se encuentra el modelo que conseguirá el precio más alto.
Like every year at this time, the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies has presented their catalogue of unique watches which will be taking part in the traditional auction managed by Christie’s and under the patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, and as usual, we have chosen some of our favourite models. On 11th November, we will know if one of the models in our selection manages to reach the highest price.
Arnold & Son.
Para la ocasión, la señera firma inglesa ha presentado una versión de su celebrado Time Pyramid, cubriendo la caja de acero inoxidable con un tratamiento DLC negro, y utilizando un tratamiento ADLC negro para el movimiento simétrico y esqueletizado, calibre A&S1615. El conjunto es rematado con acentos rojos en los numerales romanos, agujas, marca de la firma, y pespunte de la correa. La utilización de este color es un guiño a la corona monegasca, cuyo color oficial es el rojo.
The incomparable English firm has presented a version of their famous ‘Time Pyramid’ for the occasion, covering the stainless-steel case with a black DLC treatment, and using a black ADLC treatment for the symmetrical and skeletonised calibre A&S1615 movement. The piece is finished off with red accents on the Roman numerals, hands, brand logo, and the backstitch on the strap. The use of this colour is a tribute to the Monacan crown, whose official colour is red.
Bovet 1822.
Haciendo gala de su bien merecida fama de maestros de las artes decorativas, Bovet 1822 ha presentado un modelo bautizado ‘Secret Beauty for Only Watch’. Un modelo ejecutado en su tradicional caja redonda, cuyo dial luce una exquisita pintura en miniatura representando una geisha. Pero, para hacer verdaderamente especial este reloj, los artesanos de Bovet combinaron técnicas novedosas con su savoir fair artesano, creando una imagen que se ilumina en la oscuridad desvelando el mismo retrato femenino, pero desnudo.
Showing off their well-deserved fame due to their masters in decorative arts, Bovet 1822 has presented a model named ‘Secret Beauty for Only Watch’. This model is executed in their traditional round case with a dial showing off an exquisite miniature painting of a geisha. But to make this watch really special, the artisans at Bovet combined new techniques with their traditional savoir-faire to create an image that glows in the dark, showing the same female portrait, only naked.

La joven firma de Neuchâtel ha elegido un modelo que represente bien su espíritu aventurero e iconoclasta, y ofrece una versión de su espectacular Pinball, llamado Ball-E Mechanical Pinball. Se trata de un reloj que no da la hora, sino que tiene un intrincado movimiento mecánico destinado a que funcione como un Pinball clásico. Este modelo ‘Only Watch” cuenta con decoraciones en Superluminova© que, cuando se apagan las luces, desvelan la tierna cara de un robot dibujada en el dial. Una pieza realmente única y especial.
The young firm based in Neuchâtel has chosen a model that well represents their adventurous and non-conforming spirit, and offers a version of their spectacular Pinball, called Ball-E Mechanical Pinball. Although this watch doesn’t tell the time, it has an intricate mechanical movement instead, which is designed to work as a classic pinball machine. The dial on this ‘Only Watch’ model has Superluminova© decorations that light up the merry face of a robot when in the dark. This piece is really special and one-of-a-kind.
Laurent Ferrier x Urwerk.
Sin duda alguna este esfuerzo conjunto es uno de los modelos más interesantes (sino el que más) de los que serán subastados el 11 de noviembre, teniendo en cuenta que las dos compañías se mueven en polos opuestos del espectro relojero. Representando Laurent Ferrier la más emblemática tradición, y Urwerk la innovación sin compromisos, el solo hecho de que ambas colaboraran ya es algo extraordinario. El resultado es un modelo único, en cuya estética domina el espíritu Urwerk merced al display satélite, la caja curvada, y el mecanismo UR5.03, pero en el que Laurent Ferrier se hace presente a través de los detalles automotrices clásicos en la caja y la correa. Además, otro aspecto por el que este reloj es extraordinario es en el material de su caja, elaborada en Arpal+, una aleación compuesta por un 75% de metales preciosos, y un 25% de otros elementos.
Without a shadow of a doubt, this joint effort is one of the most interesting models (if not the most) taking into account that the two companies move in opposite poles of the watchmaking spectrum, and will be up for auction on 11th November. Laurent Ferrier, representing the most emblematic tradition, and Urwerk, innovation without compromise, the mere fact that both have collaborated is already something extraordinary. The result is a unique model with a look that reflects the Urwerk spirit thanks to the satellite display, curved case, and the UR5.03 mechanism, and in which Laurent Ferrier contributes with the classic automobile details on the case and strap. Besides this, another aspect which makes this watch extraordinary is the material used to make its case, as it’s made from Arpal+, an alloy made up of 75% precious metals and 25% of other elements.

Basado en la Horological Machine N°8, este modelo único cuenta con un panel de cristal grabado y metalizado con un intrincado dibujo creado por la joven Cassandra Legendre, de 15 años de edad y ascendencia franco-helvética, apasionada del ballet y el dibujo, y afincada en Madrid. Este cristal cubre el motor de este reloj de inspiración automotriz, adornado en esta ocasión con un rotor de color púrpura. A estas decoraciones se suman la figura de un elefante cuyo tallado a mano por el artesano Olivier Kuhn requirió cerca de 120 horas, y que se encuentra en el display horario, entre las horas y los minutos; y una placa atornillada que tiene forma de cara sonriente, y que viene a reemplazar la tradicional placa con el logo de la firma.
Based on the Horological Machine N°8, this unique model features a sapphire crystal engraved with an intricate drawing created by 15-year old Cassandra Legendre, who lives in Madrid with her French and Swiss parents, and is passionate about ballet and art. This crystal covers the engine of this automobile inspired watch, which is decorated with a purple-coloured rotor on this occasion. Besides these adornments, the piece features a hand-sculpted elephant by the artisan, Olivier Kuhn, which required around 120 hours of work, and is placed on the hour display between the hours and minutes, as well as a double-screwed plate in the shape of a smiley face to replace the traditional plate with the brand’s logo.
Ressence.
Para esta edición de Only Watch Ressence presentó una versión con la caja sinterizada del Type 1H, desarrollado en conjunto con Hodinkee, llamada Type 12 OW. De líneas similares al 1H, también cuenta con un dial esqueletizado, aunque en esta ocasión los sub diales no están abiertos, y el acabado del dial tiene un contraste más alto, utilizando SuperLuminova blanco en los numerales en vez del tono gris del 1H. Sin embargo la mayor diferencia es la caja, creada mediante la sinterización, un método de compactación y solidificación de materiales mediante láser. Este proceso ha creado una terminación que deja a la vista las capas que forman la caja, metáfora visual de los muchos pasos necesarios para encontrar un tratamiento para la distrofia muscular de Duchenne, principio y fin de Only Watch.
For this edition of Only Watch, Ressence presented a version of the Type 1H with its sintered case developed in conjunction with Hodinkee under the name of Type 12 OW. With similar lines to the 1H, this piece features a skeletonised dial, but the sub dials are not open on this occasion, and the finish on the dial has a greater contrast, using SuperLuminova white on the numerals instead of the grey tone on the 1H. The biggest difference, however, is the case which is created by means of sintering: a method of compacting and solidifying materials by using laser. This process creates a finish which leaves the layers visible that make up the case, creating a visual metaphor of the many steps required to find a treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy – the essence of Only Watch.
